At Sintex, we believe that small components can make a big impact. Metal Injection Molding (MIM) is one of our core technologies - enabling the production of high-performance parts with complex geometries, tight tolerances, and excellent surface quality. By combining the design freedom of plastic injection molding with the strength and durability of metal, MIM offers a unique manufacturing approach.
How the MIM Process Works.
The process begins by mixing fine metal powders with a polymer binder to create a moldable feedstock. This feedstock is injected into a mold to form a “green part,” here after we are debinding, where we fully remove the polymer, and sintering at high temperatures to produce a fully dense, precision metal component with optimal material usage.
Applications Across Demanding Industries.
MIM opens new possibilities for industries that demand precision, scalability, and reliability. Our stainless steel MIM solutions are used across sectors such as automotive, medical, defense, motor and pumps, offshore applications, and food processing. Whether it’s surgical instruments requiring flawless finishes, corrosion-resistant parts for harsh environments, or lightweight components for scalable production, MIM delivers results that meet the toughest demands.
MIM vs. Additive Manufacturing.
Unlike additive manufacturing, which excels in prototyping and low-volume production, MIM is ideal for high-volume manufacturing. It offers superior material density, consistent quality, and cost-efficiency - especially when producing thousands or millions of parts. At Sintex, we specialize in localized MIM production in Denmark, ensuring stable supply chains, reduced CO₂ emissions, and faster delivery times.
Proven Results Through Customer Cases.
Our customer cases illustrate the transformative power of MIM. In one project, we redesigned a ventilation plug for pumps, reducing its weight by over 65% and optimizing corrosion resistance. In another, we helped a leading pump manufacturer improve durability and reduce material waste through advanced component design. These examples show how MIM can revolutionize both product performance and production efficiency.
Our Approach: Innovation, Engineering, Responsibility.
Our approach to MIM is guided by three pillars: Shared Innovation Process, Adaptive Engineering, and Responsible Manufacturing. We engage early in the design phase, co-creating solutions with our customers to ensure every component is optimized for manufacturability, durability, and sustainability. Our production is powered by renewable energy, and we continuously seek ways to reduce material waste and environmental impact.
