Magnetic filters

Metallic particles are harmful in food, medicine, fuel or other high-quality products. Customer satisfaction plummets with small fragments from a knife found in crushed nuts, and rust flakes in a fuel tank can harm the motor of any car or other vehicle. Pipes and pumps can be damaged if magnetic particles flow freely in a closed cooling water system as they typically settle on the rotor or shaft in the pump resulting in internal wear of the circulating pump.

Therefore, magnetic filtration is essential to reach safety for end-users and high-performance equipment.

At Sintex, we develop magnetic filtration systems and we have specialized in filtration of aggressive material in high-end products. We ensure the best removal of metallic parts using high-grade magnets, typically incapsulated in stainless steel.

We are also able to combine stainless mechanical filtration with magnetic filtration to remove even more particles. In the meantime, our best results have always been achieved through close collaboration with our customers, as helping our customers find smart solutions to their problems often results in a more robust design, less use of expensive magnet materials or longer lifetime of the entire system.

Magnetic filtration is also used for separating media, the most well-known example being the separation of malaria from blood. Furthermore, magnetic separation is used in the pharmaceutical industry to produce high-end chemicals, normally via electromagnets. At Sintex, we have developed and built permanent magnet systems that can considerably reduce power-consumption, thereby reduce the total carbon footprint of manufacturing on the customer’s side.

  • Halbach array

    The Halbach arrays were originally developed for focusing accelerator particle beams, due to high permanent magnetic field strength. The high field strength can also be used in magnet production to make anisotropic magnets.
